HIRING INFORMATION


Thank you for your interest in the Sagadahoc County Communications Center.

Public Safety Dispatchers provide emergency and non-emergency services for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services. This position requires significant interpersonal and communications skills, oral and written, and use of radio, teletype, computers and the Enhanced 9-1-1 telephone system. Teamwork, the ability to work effectively with the public and under stress, along with strict attention to detail are essential. Direct entry of information into computers as received is necessary.

We accept applications for position of full time or part time Public Safety Dispatchers. However, at this time we have no vacancies. Qualifications:

a. Candidates must be in good health with normal hearing and vision.

b. Be a high school graduates or equivalent and have either: two years post-high school employment experience(s) or three years post-high school education program at a school, college, or university; or any combination of post-high school employment experience and post-high school education totaling three years.

c. Hold a valid State driver’s license.

d. Must be a citizen of the United States.

e. Depending on qualifications, candidates may be tested for a keyboard skill requirement of 30 WPM.

Examination Process:

The examination process will include a written test for general aptitude designed specifically towards the Telecommunications profession, a polygraph examination, an oral board, and an extensive criminal history background check.

Once a hiring process is begun and you are not contacted for an interview, your application will remain active for a period of one year and will be reviewed again should openings occur.
